Shopping in Provencal markets and meandering through the winding streets of Montélimar, Nyons, Avignon or Dieulefit is always an experience full of atmosphere and colour. Then to stop at a boulevard café for an aromatic coffee and to people watch is a great way to unwind.
Wine enthusiasts can enjoy the famous Cotes du Rhone wine routes and can be tasted and bought for exceptional prices.
For walkers and cyclists there are many official marked routes through forests, river gorges and mountains, all graded according to experience and energy. We have good maps which are available for you to borrow.
Canoeing, a wonderful alternative way to see the countryside, is within easy reach on the Drome or in the Ardèche gorge.
Horse riding, and pony trekking for children can be arranged nearby.
La Drome Provençal is famous for potters and artists who open their workshops and studios to the public. Some great original pieces can be found to buy at very reasonable prices.
In July and August, classical music and wonderful operas are performed by world class musicians in the atmosphere of the Roman amphitheatre at Orange, the Son et Lumiere at Chateau of Grignan and during the Mozart festival nearby at Saou.
We have good 18 hole golf courses and several interesting 9 hole courses.
Flying, gliding, rock climbing and pot holing are available for the more daring.
Within easy distance you can visit the historic sites of Avignon, Orange’s famous Roman amphitheatre and the Roman Aqueduct at the Pont du Gard.
However you might just prefer to wander the lavender fields, exploring the atmospheric medieval villages taking in one or more chateaux en route.
